The history of The Homestall Manor
The Homestall Manor is a substantial part medieval, part Tudor property of Grade II* listed status, set in approximately twenty eight acres in the village of Ashurst Wood. The original house formed the south west wing, a timber framed building of the fifteenth and sixteenth centuries, believed to have served as John of Gaunt's hunting lodge.
In the early twentieth century the Baronial Hall was added as the east wing, a sixteenth century hall transported from Cheshire and distinguished by an elaborately carved porch dated 1562 and a great hall with hammer beam roof. Now operating as a hotel, The Homestall offers six rooms and the full breadth of the estate amenities.
